FUCK IT MAN, SOMEDAY WE'LL LOOK BACK AND LAUGH.

After three years Bust It is calling it quits.  I have only been with them just over a year.  Stupid shit went down, blah blah who cares.  Come out to our last show and have a good time.  And stay tuned for other projects, shows, and other ramblings as this Blog is getting a few more contributors and I think a eulogy for this fine band is being written now by our good friend and new donations welcome contributor Mike Walsh.  Freedom is just another word when you got nothing left but booze.

Connecticut fun...again?

photos taken from the Redscroll Records Blogspot
Bust It

NO!

This weekend was beautiful.  Actually beginning with Jay Brown's birthday of Raw Sex fame on Tuesday, the party didn't end for your hero and random cohorts till last night.  Wednesday was a party as soon as I arrived in Middletown.  Drinking, shooting guns and banjo.  The Next day was much the same only this time everyone got to eat a bunch according to holiday standards, then out of fear of not enough beers as package stores were all shut up due to the most gluttonous of holidays, a group of us went to the Gatekeeper (yep that gnarly bar in Middletown that is now doing punk shows, I believe the next one on December 29th will feature your bffls in Bust It) and commenced performing our favorite songs with a dad rock band which got all the pretty ladies dancing.  There was also a rad Capella set of Scottish tunes by our friend Carlis and Scottish Dave who is way more rad than anybody cause homie was in a punk band in 77 and kicked it with all the crazy fools from back then, across the pond.  Other stuff happened, it was a blur but we ended up back at the house burning alot of pallets and brain cells.  Didn't accomplish much the next day by sleeping in till 3, but eh what are you gonna do?  Bust It played that show at Redscroll Records and that was fun.  Bummed I didn't get to see Living Lazer, but I did see No! and they are probably top of the food chain in CT right now.  Fast, and with actual musical talent.  You gotta check em out.  They just put out a demo of their upcoming release out on the interweb.  Find it.  Ill post a link when I get a chance.  It was awesome to see old friends from the Legion days and hang with dudes I haven't seen in forever.  That night turned into 3 in the morning and in a haze I returned to Boston.  Pics and other things may be up soon. Otherwise, you should of been there.
Living Lazer

Be sure to check out Bust It this Friday in Providence, Rhode Island with our friends in Product of Waste and Raw Sex.  The venues name is Firehouse 13.  Go to this as this will be the last P.O.W. show for a while as they are going on hiatus.  Now go forth and spread my verbal diarrhea.

Living Lazers and our good pals in No!  Show starts at 8pm but show up early to find out where the show is and check out the great deals they got going on at the store.  Fuck buying a flat screen, shits gonna fall off your wall, Diamonds just make you look desperate for affection and the girls gonna leave you once she figures out she can pawn that shit for way more, and gift cards just make you look unoriginal.  Vinyl is forever.  Actually while you're at it, you should hit up our Labels website to own a peice of punk rock history.  You know, some Ebay gold.  Dont say I didn't warn you.  They got some killer new crew necks coming in and a bunch of records.

Punk Rock in Connecticut

photos by Chris Cappello
 So on Saturday we were able to play this really gnarly venue in Wallingford, the Manor.  Its a sick little spot.  The actual venue is an old farmers market (thus the egg sign) that the dudes who live here converted into an amazing place to play.  It felt good to play a good Connecticut show once again.  I was super bummed because I got there late, because Carlo of No! fame had to finish up some recording at his place of residence, then we had to wait for our dude Carlis to drive from Higganum to Middletown to meet up with us.  Then we had to meet Joey shovel face of Stomped on Sight fame in Meriden because he didnt want to drive, only for
Joey to not want to leave his car at the Closed down Lowes.  We finally made it as Sacred Love from Maryland was finishing up which sucks as I wasn't able to get inside but they sounded awesome from where I was and it also sounded like kids were going off for them as the sound of bodies smashing up against the walls was heard distinctly in the fall breeze.  Simply magical, ya know?  We went on and as you can see from the photos everyone decided in my band that day to go get eye exams and the light was simply too much for them with such dilated pupils,  poor near sighted fuckers.  It was cool to be able to debut new jams off the upcoming LP, otherwise there was alot of spit flying from the fools in Al Borland who showed up to see how a real band performs and take some notes.  Mark Davidson has a fetish for spit fighting, so I obliged.  Connecticut (the band) came on next, and were really awesome.  Straight Edge and very angry, which is awesome!  I was really stoked to see them and they did not let me down.  If they do play anytime soon, you gotta check em out.
All in all a great night.  Returned to Middletown to drink beer, smoke dope, shoot guns and listen to Carlis play banjo.  We got another show at Redscroll records In Wallingford this Friday 11/25 come hang out and dance off that turkey or tofurkey or the copious amounts of pumpkin bi products you injested the previous day.

I dont think so Tim.

Hey fuckers.  Remember when I told you about how we might be doing a split with Al Borland from Connecticut?  Well this is their bandcamp.  They are pretty good.  At least in my head today they are.  Tomorrow may be another story.  This is their debut demo.  It made up of good friends of ours and if YOU haven't seen them, then keep an eye out for a flyer I don't think they believe in the Internet which is refreshing because look how certain people (yes referring to myself) abuse the privilege.

11/11/18

"There was a war, a great war, and now it is over. Men fought to kill, to maim, to destroy. Some return home, others remain behind forever on the fields of their greatest sacrifice. The rewards of the dead are the lasting honors of martyrs for humanity; the reward of the living is the peaceful conscience of one who plays the game of life and plays it square."-26-year-old Lieutenant Lewis Plush of the American Expeditionary Force

Happy Birthday Bram Stoker!

I'm serious, its Bram Stokers birthday today so if you could all go and read any of his literary works, or if you must, please view (one of my favorite films, fuck Coy) Nosferatu, its up on Netflix and creepy as shit.  Its beautiful here in Boston, but who needs the great outdoors and city smog when you got black and white movies right at your fingertips?

On a more lively note.(Get it?) Bust It had a killer weekend.  Saturday was a mess.  After practicing, the party commenced. Here's a good equation for you chemistry nerds, what do you get when you mix a keg and the smooth sounds of Hip Hop acts GDP and T from P.O.W. Camp?  A swell evening where the CT heads in Bust It couldn't even attempt to return home with aspirations of seeing Dangers in Wallingford at the new house venue The Manor.  It was worth it.  Well I don't know if later on it will be considered so as Coy slept in my asbestos ridden basement.  See I told you punks not dead.

Sunday found us on the radio.  It was a good time.  Everyone should listen to Ali Donahue's show, The Basement Show, which is on WTBU every Sunday from 6-8pm.  They play lots of awesome punk and garage.  If you missed our set you can listen to it here, http://wtbu.bandcamp.com/album/bust-it-live  and even download it so you can be the coolest kid on the block.  As was said before this will also be available on the forthcoming cassette which will feature the demo for the upcoming LP and other outtakes.  I think its going to be available here: http://www.getyoungrecords.com/

So in summary, All this crappy vampire stuff we are exposed to in modern day society is a far cry from what the master had in mind.  Please go kick a vampire.

P.S.
Jared is a Math nerd who hates literature and history.  Please kick him also.

Archimedes, Jared's hero.

The sweetest thing to hit Connecticut since nutmeg.

Just some updates as far as those ne'er do wells in Bust It are concerned.

So Sunday between 6 and 8 Pm we will be on Wtbu, that is the radio station for Boston University.  We will be discussing modern literature and its basis within Russian socio-economics.  It will certainly be a sight for sore ears.  Check the flyer in the last post on this Blog for more info cause I am lazy.  Plus im sure Get Young and ourselves will be hounding the shit out of everybody mere hours/minutes before we actually go on air.

This live broadcast will be recorded for our upcoming demo cassette due out probably around Christmas or something or other which will include this set and the demo for the upcoming LP.
Also while on the topic of recorded materials, within the next few weeks we will be releasing a cassette titled "Na, Yo, Cuz..."  Which will include all the material recorded by Bust It while Coy was still singing and The handsome frontman Brett Asselin was still hittin the Books.  The recordings include the very first Bust It line up with some of CTs most notable characters and beings.

The charge of the Light Brigade

The great charge happened today, 157 years ago during the Crimean War.  The poem that I have included however is not the one by Alfred, Lord Tennyson, but rather somewhat of a post-script written by Rudyard Kipling many years after the devastating charge made by Lord Cardigan's cavalry.

There were thirty million English who talked of England's might,
There were twenty broken troopers who lacked a bed for the night.
They had neither food nor money, they had neither service nor trade;
They were only shiftless soldiers, the last of the Light Brigade.

They felt that life was fleeting; they knew not that art was long,
That though they were dying of famine, they lived in deathless song.
They asked for a little money to keep the wolf from the door;
And the thirty million English sent twenty pounds and four !

They laid their heads together that were scarred and lined and grey;
Keen were the Russian sabres, but want was keener than they;
And an old Troop-Sergeant muttered, "Let us go to the man who writes
The things on Balaclava the kiddies at school recites."

They went without bands or colours, a regiment ten-file strong,
To look for the Master-singer who had crowned them all in his song;
And, waiting his servant's order, by the garden gate they stayed,
A desolate little cluster, the last of the Light Brigade.

They strove to stand to attention, to straighen the toil-bowed back;
They drilled on an empty stomach, the loose-knit files fell slack;
With stooping of weary shoulders, in garments tattered and frayed,
They shambled into his presence, the last of the Light Brigade.

The old Troop-Sergeant was spokesman, and "Beggin' your pardon," he said,
"You wrote o' the Light Brigade, sir. Here's all that isn't dead.
An' it's all come true what you wrote, sir, regardin' the mouth of hell;
For we're all of us nigh to the workhouse, an' we thought we'd call an' tell.

"No, thank you, we don't want food, sir; but couldn't you take an' write
A sort of 'to be continued' and 'see next page' o' the fight?
We think that someone has blundered, an' couldn't you tell 'em how?
You wrote we were heroes once, sir. Please, write we are starving now."

The poor little army departed, limping and lean and forlorn.
And the heart of the Master-singer grew hot with "the scorn of scorn."
And he wrote for them wonderful verses that swept the land like flame,
Till the fatted souls of the English were scourged with the thing called Shame.

They sent a cheque to the felon that sprang from an Irish bog;
They healed the spavined cab-horse; they housed the homeless dog;
And they sent (you may call me a liar), when felon and beast were paid,
A cheque, for enough to live on, to the last of the Light Brigade.

O thirty million English that babble of England's might,
Behold there are twenty heroes who lack their food to-night;
Our children's children are lisping to "honour the charge they made - "
And we leave to the streets and the workhouse the charge of the Light Brigade!

Winter Tour.

So the word is we havent been playing much cause we are supposed to be recording.  We lie alot.  Men are just arrogant pigs.  Keep checking back here for show announcements and flyers. <3

As of Right now:

December weekend tour with the girls in Raw Sex
12/9 CT?

12/11 Philly
12/16 Boston

Its not so much a tour as much as a shopping trip for all the gals.

Bust It! | Hell is Other People CT Record release: Empty Drawer / Hard H...

We practiced last night. Not much talk, except reoccurring dreams from all members of Jesus with chainsaws for arms, going on a huge rampage, killing all the dinosaurs and Moses running around with a shovel burying them all so we true believers can find them later. Kind of like a sick twisted Easter egg hunt. Jared was upset by this. Eren consoled him. Coy ate tofu. I contributed nothing. check out this video from our record release in CT where Rich from Get Young almost died cause of all the cancer flakes in the air. I love Basements.

Give me the mic, so they can take it away.

"8/18 12:00 am"

Its not that I hate them.  That's not it at all.  I just don't like how blood shot my eyes get, and how raw my scalp becomes from taking a step back, scratching my head, and just staring in utter disbelief.

Grasping at flaws

Toe the line while I jump ship
You're trapped, entombed with an empty clip
Nothings how you planned, so you just bitch and whine
Quit overcompensating, and ruining my good time.

I'm still the one at the back of the room
setting all their things on fire.
To fucked to foresee any backlash
has nothing changed since high school math?

Smile, pretend, its all one big facade.
I'm laughing in your face, at the choices you made.
An ego exploded based on the shit that you own.
What about integrity?  A seed never sown.

I'm still the one at the back of the room
still trying to set the world on fire.
Taking it all in, cant help but laugh.
I win, You lose.  It's simple high school math.

You're always monkey see and monkey do.
I never fucking wanted to be like you.
You're social stigmas stick to you like glue.
Its so cool!  You're so cool.

It all falls apart.

It would be nice if I could get my shit together.  I'm an anxiety attack, constantly blown apart by thoughts, ideas, beliefs, distrust, love, lust, and a constant sense of impending doom.  I know when it all began to crack, splinter, grow.  I honestly believe that everybody is full of shit.  They sing and dance for a cause which never can be obtained.  Because, if they ever so happened to "win", they wouldn't be able to bitch anymore, or would have to make up some other excuse, quote and recycle somebody Else's over used yet just "under the radar" thoughts.  This occurs when they have now taken any sort of suspicious eyes and cast them aside in astonishment that someone could be and remain so profound and fresh.  People naturally crave warmth.  Where is there a warmer place?  Besides the spotlight?  Self loathing ignites sympathy, sympathy leads to someone always saying " I'm sorry."  Sorry is to easy of a word to say.  Apologies are given when you feel threatened of forced removal.  The whole has rejected you.  There is no warmth in New England.

    I Like this quote I dislike this quote“For I say unto you in all sadness of conviction that to think great thoughts you must be heroes as well as idealists. Only when you have worked alone / when you have felt around you are a black gulf of solitude more isolating than that which surrounds the dying man, and in hope and despair have trusted to your own unshaken will / then only can you gain the secret isolated joy of the thinker, who knows that a hundred years after he is dead and forgotten men who have never heard of him will be moving to the measure of his thought / the subtle rapture of postponed power, which the world knows not because it has no external trappings, but which to his prophetic vision is more real than that which commands an army. And if this joy should not be yours, still it is only thus you can know that you have done what lay in you to do / can say that you have lived, and be ready for the end.”-Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr.
